Informal grocery stands also offering their customers other services e.g. mobile money transfer, shape Dar es Salaam's urban face. Some have licences other don't...but they are widely tolerated and a great number of the city's inhabitants depend on them. Generally informal structures have a long history in Dar es Salaam and have for long been tolerated. However, in recent years in some parts of the city stands and shops have been teared down as the current government's position towards informality seems to have shifted. Interestingly, the case of Dar es Salaam does not seem too different from informal vendors in#bangladesh we posted on. We believe that there should be more #exhange of#experience and #practices. Therefore, we#encourage everyone to share their#urbanexperiences!! Become part of the #network!
