As Germany's longest river, the Rhine, holds a risk for flooding in many cities built alongside of it. The city of Bonn found its way of coping with this hazard: especially with the so called "Jahrhunderthochwasser", a flood supposed to occur every 100 years. The river front in Bonn partially integrates gates in walls, that can be closed in case of food. #resilience #flood #risk #river #cityexplorations #Bonn #NRW #Germany #Europe
