Karua Forest in Nairobi, is an urban upland forest. One of the largest gazetted forests in the world fully within city limits. It covers an area of about 1,000 ha. Open green spaces, like Karua Forest, make a valuable contribution to helping to reduce concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, and in building resilience to a changing climate.
