Walkability versus Street Greening 👣🌳 Walkable sidewalks encourage walking which usually benefits people's health condtions. Apart from that, walkable sidewalks also have economic and environmental benefits. Economically, cities benefit from having a more walkable environment as the presence of sidewalks e.g. tends to increase property values. Environmentally, increasing walkability generally enhances walking and biking which in turn decreases car travel and thereby decrease harmful emissions.
