Open Spaces in Informal Settlements, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

With more than 75% of it's settlements being informal, only a few areas have been officially assigned to public space in Dar es Salaam. But what about open spaces in informal settlements? Do they not count as public spaces? Open spaces can be found within all informal settlements. They are used for community meetings, sports, government rallies, small business activities, and for breaks. Especially for the youth these spaces are important. They use them to breath and relax, to do sports, to meet up and chat with with friends.
