Valparaíso, located 2hs from the Chilean capital of Santiago, is known for its creative scene and is home to many artists, writers and musicians.

Local artists as well as international artists are said to have made the city their canvas and transformed many buildings into pieces of public art. Due to the city’s historical layout, and architecture in combination with vast street art all over Valparaíso, the city was listed as a Unesco world heritage centre in 2003. The listing of Valparaíso led to influxes of much-needed funds which helped to transform the city into one of Chile's most creative cities.
