My favourite Spot(s) in Curitiba, Brazil.
Curitiba is the capital of the state of Paraná , located in the south of Brazil, and one of the cities that received a lot of immigrants in XIX century. One of my favorite places in the city is the old down town area. Although this part of the cities usually refers to an abandoned place or is not so much cared about, it concentrates the essence of the city with its historical buildings, museums, ruins, and so much history to tell. In Curitiba's old town two historic churches (Our Lady of Rosário of Saint Benedictus and the Church of the Third Order of Saint Francis of Chagas), museums, art spaces, mansions, pubs, and restaurants, as well as the traditional open market on Sundays (which is really amazing!) can be found.
What fascinates me most in public spaces like this one is the fact that it brings together different people with a common objective. This shows that culture is essential to the social integration and valorization of cities.
